On this trip from Marrakech to Merzouga Desert, you will visit the most amazing part of the Sahara desert and you will be able to contemplate most of the impressive and different landscapes of Morocco. In a comfortable 4×4, we will cross roads, dirt tracks, valleys, ports, gorges, dunes, and villages with Bereber History & Culture.
After picking you up at your hotel or riad (or at the airport) we will depart for Ouarzazate. Along the way, we will cross the Atlas by the incredible port Tizi n’Tichka, 2,260 meters high. Shortly after crossing the Atlas, we will arrive at the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, an incredibly fortified city where films such as Gladiator or The Kingdom of Heaven have been shot. After the visit, we will take the Road of the Thousand Kasbahs towards Skoura where we will stop at the Kasbah Amredhyle. From here we will go to Kelaat M’gouna, capital of the Valley of the Roses, to finally reach the Dades Gorges, where we will stay.
After breakfast, we will resume the march towards the Dades Valley and cross the impressive Todra Gorges, where we will stay until lunchtime. With the renewed energy, we will take the road to Merzouga and cross the Palmeral of Jorf (from where the best dates come from) and Erfoud, a beautiful village where you can visit a marble workshop. Once in Merzouga and, after recalling the striking image of its dunes.
On the 3rd day, we will dedicate it completely to enjoy the desert. We will fill the dunes in the 4×4, visit nomadic villages, see the oasis and ride through the dunes of Erg Chebbi. We will visit the famous village of Khamlia and enjoy the folk of Gnaoua music. At dusk, we will have some camels that will take us to the Berber camp in the heart of the dunes, where we will have dinner and spend the night.
If there’s one thing no one can miss is enjoying a sunrise in the desert, so we’ll get up early on this day. After contemplating this moment, we will take the camels to approach a hotel where we can shower and have breakfast. Back to Ouarzazate, we’ll take a different route. Passing the Palmeral de Tafilalet and the village of Rissani (origin of the Alauí dynasty and ancient capital of the Alaua sultans) we will reach Alnif, where we will take the road that crosses the Anti-Atlas mountain range. Wondered by the shapes and colors of these mountains we will reach Tazarine (important Berber people), N’kob, and finally the Draa Valley and its amazing palm grove. In the afternoon we will cross the Anti Atlas by the port Tizi n Tnifift (1660 meters) in the direction of Ouarzazate, where we will spend the night in a riad/kasbah.
After breakfast, we will have time to visit the famous Kasbah Taourirt and the Atlas Film Studios, the most important in Africa. We’ll be back in Marrakech around 5 p.m. End of our services…
