On this Fes Sahara Trip back to back, you will visit the most amazing Sahara Desert of Morocco and contemplate some of the most impressive and different landscapes of the country. In a comfortable 4×4 or minibus, you will cross roads, valleys, kasbahs, mountain passes, gorges, dunes, and Berber villages steeped in history and Moroccan culture.
3 Days / 2 Nights — Day by day
After an early breakfast, you begin your ascent across the Middle Atlas Mountains. Most of the day is spent winding through beautiful forests, jagged rock faces and Berber villages as you cross the Atlas range and descend towards the Sahara Desert. Halfway, stop for lunch in Midelt — famous for its fossils, rocks and apple orchards — then continue through the spectacular Ziz Gorges with their palm-lined oasis and countless ancient ksars. Pass through Erfoud and Rissani before arriving at the Kasbah in Merzouga. A hot shower or a swim in the pool (depending on the season) will be a treat after the long drive. Dinner served at the Kasbah.
Our adventure starts at 10:00 AM with a drive through the magnificent Erg Chebbi dunes. Across these fabulous landscapes you'll see nomadic black tents scattered through the desert. Stop with a nomadic family for tea and a glimpse into their daily life. Continue to Khamlia — a village where centuries have barely left a trace, known for its authentic Gnawa music. After lunch (in Khamlia or back at the hotel), rest before an afternoon camel trek deep into the high dunes to watch one of the most breathtaking sunsets you will ever witness. Overnight in a traditional Berber camp under a sky full of stars.
Wake up early to enjoy a magnificent sunrise over the dunes, then take a camel ride back to the hotel. After freshening up and breakfast, set off for the return journey to Fes via the Ziz Valley and the Middle Atlas Mountains. Drive through the cedar forests of Azrou and stop to hand-feed the Barbary apes in the trees. Continue via Ifrane — the Switzerland of Morocco — arriving back in Fes in the early evening. End of our service.
